Men’s Soccer Makes America East Finals!


Sunday, November 15, 5:00 pm at LaValle Stadium

Stony Brook’s men’s soccer team will be playing for the 2009 America East title after defeating Hartford, 3-2, in penalty kicks on November 11 at LaValle Stadium. Senior Oscar Leis scored the Seawolves’ third goal of the shootout and redshirt freshman Anthony Rogic made two saves.

This will be the Seawolves first appearance in the finals since winning it in 2005.

So come out to LaValle Stadium this Sunday, November 15, to support the men’s soccer team as they compete for the America East title. Game time is 5:00 pm.

Stony Brook students get in free with ID. Tickets are $8 general admission and $5 youth (14 and under). For tickets call 632-WOLF.

Stony Brook Men's and Women's Basketball-Season Begins This Weekend!

Stony Brook Men's and Women's Basketball 2009-2010 is right around the corner!

All season ticket packages are now open to the general public and can be purchased at the Stony Brook University ticket office, by phone at 631-632-WOLF or online at www.goseawolves.org.

*Stony Brook Students are FREE with Student I.D.

The athletic ticket office is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and is located in the left corner of the atrium in Stony Brook Arena. Fans can also reach the ticket office by email at SeawolvesTickets@StonyBrook.edu.

Show Your Stony Brook Spirit & Pride! What's Your Favorite Spot on Campus? *Chance to win $1,000!

Calling all undergrads, grad students, faculty and staff:

Create a short video showing us your favorite spot on campus and explaining why you chose it. Enter and you may win a top prize of $1000.

Videos can be as short as short 30 seconds or as long as one minute, and professional equipment is not required. You can use a camcorder, a webcam or even a video-recording phone. Don’t have access to a recording device? We’ll lend you one of our Flip Video Camcorders (subject to availability).

Submissions will be judged by a panel of students, faculty, and staff. They will be looking for authenticity and creativity. Share with us your unique perspective about how this location has influenced your Stony Brook experience. Basketball Tips-Off Season With B-Ball Madness Event TOMORROW NIGHT October 28 - 7PM

Meet the 2009-10 Seawolves, T-shirt giveaways, contests, FREE food during the World Series Gamewatch Party.
Stony Brook University will get an early start on the 2009-10 basketball season when it hosts B-Ball Madness in Pritchard Gym on Wednesday, October 28 starting at 7:00 p.m. The event is for Stony Brook students only and will give them a chance to meet both the men's and women's basketball teams and receive an official Seawolves T-Shirt. There will also be on-court contests with great prizes, free food and a big screen television to watch Game 1 of the 2009 World Series. Students will also get a chance to see special performances by student organizations, the SBU Band, Cheerleaders, Dance Team, and Wolfie. ADMISSION IS FREE BUT SPACE IS LIMITED SO BE SURE TO GET THERE EARLY!

During B-Ball Madness, members of both teams will be introduced and head men's coach, Steve Pikiell, and head women's coach Michele Cherry will address the students about the excitement of the upcoming 2009-10 season. The teams will participate in contests with and against their fellow classmates as part of what is sure to be outstanding evening of contests, giveaways and performances. At 8 p.m., students can watch Game 1 of the 2009 World Series on the big screen inside Pritchard Gymnasium. FREE food will be served to all students in attendance.

The 2008-09 season saw the men's team finish 16-14 overall and 8-8 in the America East Conference, tying for fourth-place in the final regular season conference standings, the Seawolves' best-ever America East Conference finish. The 16 overall wins and eight conference victories are the most for Stony Brook in its eight years as a member of the America East Conference.

Stony Brook's women's team will play 15 games at Pritchard Gymnasium including a Nov. 15 matchup with Big East opponent, St. John's. The Seawolves' home conference schedule includes contests against defending regular season champion Boston University and NCAA tournament participant, Vermont, who won the 2009 America East tournament.

The women's team opens up its home schedule on Friday, Nov. 13 against Princeton while the men's team will take on Mt. St. Mary College in its home opener on Monday, Nov. 16.

Seawolves Basketball Presents - B-BALL MADNESS!


On Wednesday, October 28th at 7:00 p.m. in Pritchard Gymnasium, Stony Brook University Athletics will host its basketball tip-off event, “B-Ball Madness!"

Come out to the Indoor Sports Complex and take part in this exciting campus event. You will get a chance to meet the 2009-10 Seawolves Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams, compete in on-court contests against our division 1 basketball players, win prizes, receive a official Seawolves T-shirt, enjoy FREE food, and watch the 1st round of the 2009 MLB World Series on the BIG SCREEN!

You will also get a chance to see special performances by student organizations, the SBU Band, Cheerleaders, Dance Team, and Wolfie!
