This Week @ Stony Brook - Spirit of SB Marching Band Fundraiser, B-Ball Madness 2011, Communiversity Day & Much More!

Now that we are well into the fall semester, we just wanted to give a quick summary of all the exciting activities going on this week both on and off campus! There is always plenty to do here at Stony Brook, but this week seems especially busy!

Spirit of Stony Brook Marching Band Fundraiser
At Chili's of South Setauket on Tuesday, October 25 11AM-11PM 
The Spirit of Stony Brook Marching Band is pleased to announce its first of several fundraising partnerships with local restaurants. Each month throughout the year, the band will partner with a different restaurant who have agreed to apply a percentage of the bill back to the band.

The Restaurant of the month for October is Chili's in South Setauket, NY.
Date: Tuesday, October 25th 
Time: 11 am - 11 pm 
Location: Chili's, 280 Pond Path, South Setauket, NY

Remember to print and bring the attached flyer with you and present it to your waiter/waitress in order for a portion of your bill to be applied to the fundraiser. All proceeds will go directly back to the Spirit of Stony Brook.

-Fall Football Frenzy Student Tailgate-
Fall Football Frenzy Tailgate from 1-3:30pm in the field next to Gate 6 behind Student Health Services before the 4pm game. There will be free food, games, crafts, live student performances, a costume contest, and much more!

-10th Annual Raymond M. Downey Heroes Classic-
For this special event all firefighters, policemen, military, EMS and emergency services personnel with valid ID will receive FREE admission and their families and relatives can purchase a $4 ticket by going online, in advance until game day, at www.GoSeawolves.org/tickets

On this day, the Seawolves will honor the memory of Deputy Chief Raymond Downey who lost his life in the line of duty during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. All fire departments in attendance are encouraged to display one piece of apparatus at the main entrance to LaValle Stadium. The Stony Brook Fire Department will hold a contest for all Fire Departments who attend this game. Contestant winners include:

-The Department that displays the oldest apparatus at LaValle Stadium
-The Department that travels the furthest to the game
-The Department with the best display

Fire Department awards will be presented at halftime by the Stony Brook Fire Department. Contest rules and parking instructions will be forwarded to those wishing to participate. Please contact 631-632-WOLF for more information.

-Communiversity Day-
The Stony Brook campus community will come together and celebrate the university's achievements. Faculty and staff of Stony Brook University will be honored and will be able to purchase a discounted ticket prior to the game with their employee ID.

-Parent and Family Weekend-
Parents and family members of Stony Brook students are invited out to LaValle Stadium as a part of their weekend visit to the campus.
