CELEBRATE NATIONAL FOOD DAY 2011 AT STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY

Celebrate the national program Food Day with sustainable cooking demonstrations, documentary films, a garlic planting, and a farmers market, all of which are free.

Visit the Student Activities Center from 6:00 to 8:00 pm when local farmer Scott Chaskey appears as the guest speaker. The viewing of Food Inc. will follow the lecture.
At 8:00 pm, the documentary Forks Over Knives will be shown at the SAC. The movie examines the claim that most of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled or reversed by eliminating our animal-based diets. It will be followed by a short documentary, Community Bloom.

Food Network chef Marc Bynum will be on hand from noon to 3:00 pm at the Student Activities Center Traditions Lounge with sustainable cooking demonstrations. His recipes will be featured at the Native Spice Express in the SAC. Also that day, purchase fresh, local produce at a farmers market from noon to 3:00 pm located at the SAC Plaza. Meal plans are accepted.
